Carnival to raise RM1 million for new school building

Sister Enda (centre) will be at the Assunta Carnival on July 7

The Assunta High School Alumni Association (AHSAA) is organising a carnival to raise RM1 million for the school's building fund.

The carnival will be held at the school from 8.30am to 2.30pm on July 7.

Among the highlights of the day are telematches, performances by the Assunta cheerleaders and a jumble sale.

AHSAA spokesman Pat Lu said proceeds will go towards the building of a new block for the school.

"As a former mission school, it is not fully funded by the government. That is why we have to be self-sufficient," she said.

The RM1.5 million four-storey building will house four living skills rooms, a library and four computer laboratories.

So far, RM500,000 has been raised through donations from companies, parents and former students.

Lu called on more former students to contribute.

As part of AHSAA's fund raising effort, a self-improvement seminar entitled How To Earn Other People’s S.T.A.R (Support, Trust, Admiration and Respect) will be held during the carnival.

Fees are RM90 a person for members of the public, RM70 for alumni members, RM50 for parents and RM20 for students.

For details on the seminar, log on to rayma.com.my or call Joanne Lee at O3-7044666.
